Donald Bernabò

Five years ago I opened Salon Bernabo on Mt. Nebo Rd. in Ohio Township in the North Hills next to the very successful Andora’s restaurant, which I had thought would be a great location and a service to the community. It turns out that my hunch was right and I want to thank all of our clients that have made our salon the success that it is today.

We are looking forward to the next five years with great anticipation and we are going to work even harder in the future.

I started my career as an assistant at the original Saks Fifth Ave. for several years under Victor Manno who was the top stylist. I learned all the basic and advanced training that I needed to start my profession.

Next I became a hairstylist and colorist in the Saks Salon for several years. After that I joined the Elizabeth Arden Salon in Kaufmann’s Department Store and I had a very successful career and a great time for twenty-nine years. On July 5, 2006 I opened Salon Bernabo and it has been the best professional decision that I have ever made. I retained 93% of my clientele even though I moved 11 miles out of the city to the northern suburbs, and I appreciate that loyalty very much.

My favorite part of the business is to interact with the client and create the best cut, color and style for each individual, based on what their hair needs are for them to be successful in their personal and professional life. Another part of the business that I enjoy is traveling to different parts of the world and learning and sharing knowledge of the hair industry. I have traveled to many places in the United States, Canada, and Europe to different hair shows, conventions, and private salons for various types of education. I have spent time and met with many of the top stylists from around the world including Vidal Sassoon as well as a little barber in a little town in America. I feel that I can learn from anybody that has a pair of scissors that are moving.

I love to go to work and I am lucky to have found a career that makes my work my hobby. Thank God for Monday and the start of each new week.
